Window Unit Water Chiller. I am taking this project to a licensed hvac tech but. i am curious if you think it is possible to create a water chiller using the evaporator coil from a window ac unit. this is my second glycol chiller build. a 5000 btu ac unit as a central chiller should be able to cool a whole array of brew in properly sealed and insulated compartments. I used a new 5000 btu window ac unit i had sitting around still in the box for several years. i dipped the cold side coils in to a 70 qt cooler and that unit had no problem bringing the temps down to zero, however. converting window a/c unit into light duty water chiller. This channel is designed to offer insight and background on. 10k+ visitors in the past month reaching out to see if any tech out there has ever converted an old window unit into a chiller for a cold plunge….
